Well, today I got DSL so my server went to the new house. SBC doesn’t block port 80 or 25 which allows me to run a mail server and web server on the right ports rather than some unblocked port. Hooray!
So far, so good…

The kids spent their first night here last night. They had a blast – their old man knows how to show them a good time. They helped me set up my new computer desk as well as arrange their room with their new stuff. I went out and bought them some clothes as well since they needed those and shoes really bad. It’s amazing now that we’re seperated how much money I have now (even with the child support payments) and how much more time I can spend with my girls rather than having the ex constantly take them to their grandma’s house away from me. At first the divorce made me pretty sad, but now I see it as probably one of the best things that could’ve happened for both myself and my children.
It still pisses me off that she tried to take them away from me just because she was worried about herself not being able to pay the bills. Don’t use the kids as your weapon for me to be your meal ticket – the kids are now relying on YOU just as much as they did on me before the divorce.
The funny thing is that asked for this divorce and now that she’s getting what she wants (a divorce) she realized “oh shit, I didn’t think about actually working for a living…or child care…or that I might not be able to leech any more…or that I would *gasp* have to be responsible with money now”. As it is, she’ll still be taking more home than me (net income) with child support, but yet is STILL worried about being able to pay the bills. We pay almost the exact same amount for our mortgage payment – she’s going to have to fuckin realize that she can’t have both a cell phone and a home phone. She’s going to have to realize that she can’t just buy three pair of $50.00 “Mudd” jeans because she wants to. She’s going to have to realize that she has to pay bills before she can just blow money on jewelry. Besides, doing all that is like putting a chandelier in a garage – wtf are you thinking?! A fat chick wearing “Mudd” low-rise jeans now is the equivelant to fat chicks in the 80s wearing spandex and thongs. Don’t be that person.
It’s kind of funny that I had this rant quite some time ago not seeing this coming, but then it happened. Go figure.
Anyways, good slap in the face by a thing I like to call reality will do her some good. Welcome to the work force and the real world – enjoy your stay.
